The first vessel is destroyed and Harriman is stuck for ideas, so

In goes the Enterprise, and beams off a third of the people on board, before

...The second ship is destroyed, but alas

Scotty says that a torpedo blast will break them free, but they won't be installed until Tuesday, so Kirk heads to the main deflector to use it to simulate a torpedo blast. |

Kirk gets to work, and

..Success! But as the Enterprise is leaving the rift

...It gets struck at the main deflector! |

This seems to be the end of Captain Kirk

Meanwhile, outside sick bay
